Just so it will be abundantly clear to those who care about music and musicians: The use of mechanically reproduced music or live music that is on ASCAP/SESAC/BMI repetoire without an ASCAP/SESAC/BMI license is in violation of US Copyright Law. This is not a "grey" area. It is simply illegal. Mechanically reproduced music includes DJs and Jukeboxes. DJ's, just like a cover band or any band, playing music under ASCAP/SESAC/BMI repetoire must have a license. If you don't have a license, you are defrauding the copyright holder. If you are a DJ or band and are as successful as you boast, get a license. Newer generations of Jukeboxes (such as TouchTunes TM) collect and report played artists and songs directly to reporting agencies to fulfill royalty and license requirements. Older (mechanical) jukeboxes are subject to audit and should clearly bear an ASCAP/BMI stamp indicative of current license status. IBIMW maintains licensing for live music performances, our jukebox, and our in-house Sirius radio. Our licensing is always current. For more information on licensing, see www.ascap.com and www.sesac.com
